Skłamałabym, gdybym napisała że Mercado de San Miguel to najfajniejsze miejsce w Madrycie, bo zapewniam, że jeśli się tam wybierzecie, odkryjecie swoje własne ulubione zakątki. Ja mam jednak słabość do 'bazarów', przez to i ten skradł kawałek mojego serducha. Nie ma on nic z pięknego, pachnącego orientalnymi przyprawami wielkiego marketu w Stambule. Nic prócz tłumów.
It would be a lie to say Mercado de San Miguel is the most amazing place in Madrid, because I can ensure you that going there you will discover your own favorite spot/s. Personally I have that thing with markets, that is why this one got a tiny piece of my heart as well. However, the biggest part of it still belongs to Grand Bazar in Istanbul, with which Mercado has in common just crowds.
Sam w sobie nie jest nawet taki duży, natomiast oczy można nacieszyć kolorami i kształtami, kubki smakowe znajdą się w raju a węchowe otępieją. Wszystko oprawione w stylu dosyć hipsterskim, tym który kojarzy mi się z niektórymi kawiarniami, restauracjami i barami w Atlancie, dbałość o detale, piękna oprawa i estetyczny bezkulturowy design. Nie mogło oczywiście zabraknąć ściany zamienionej w tablicę, czarną, taką, która się ze szkołą kojarzy.
The place it is not even that big, but your eyes will enjoy the colors and shapes, your tong will melt from all those flavors, and nose will be just too stunned by smells. Everything has the style I would describe as a bit hipster, which reminds me a lot about some cafés, restaurants and bars I liked in Atlanta, with details taken care of, kinda commercialized, aesthetic culture-less design.It would not be complete without a wall turned into a chalkboard.
Kiedyś już o tym wspominałam, że pochodząc z Polski do cen w większościach części świata mam podejście ciężkie, że niby wszędzie drogo. I tutaj było tak samo. Ceny przyprawiały o palpitację serca. Na szczęście rodowici mieszkańcy Madrytu mówią to samo: Mercado de San Miguel jest drogie. W końcu to tak typowo turystyczna miejscówka, że pewnie lepiej byście spożytkowali czas odwiedzając coś innego. Jeśli jednak jesteś typem podróżnika, dla którego jedzenie musi mieć odpowiednie estetyczną oprawę - śmiało tam właśnie skieruj swe kroki! Mnie ta hipsterska atmosfera całkiem się podobała.
I mentioned it somewhere before that growing up in Poland anywhere you go seems to be expensive. The same was here. The prices made my heart suffer. Thank God even Madrid born and raised people think it is an expensive place. After all Mercado de San Miguel is made especially for tourists. It is so touristic spot that you would do better visiting other spots. But if you are the type of a traveler who wants to have all those flavors in not that culturally placed context - definitely go there! You will enjoy that hipster atmosphere as much as I did!
